Bluejacket Boys Track wins at Waconia

The Cambridge-Isanti boys rolled to 1st place and the girls were runners-up at the May 5 Connie Manuel Invite in Waconia. The Bluejacket boys are now 30-6 overall on the season; the girls are 20-17.

 

A big highlight for the C-I boys at the Manuel was the work turned in by the hurdlers. Casey Golla (41.8), Matt Andres (43.9) and Conner Anderson (44.3) swept the top three spots in the 300 hurdles. In the 110s, Andres (16.5) placed 1st, with Jordan Kalk (17.2) and Golla (17.3) going 3rd and 4th.

Billy Eifert cruised to a 10:08 time to win the 3200. Sam Westerberg (4:40) finished 2nd in the 1600. More running leaders for the Bluejackets were Nick Solberg (6th in the 100), Kish Daniels (4th in the 200), Alex Rood (6th in the 400), Patrick Jones (6th in the 800), and Jonathan Head (7th in the 800).  The Jacket relays also ran well, with the 4×400 placing 1st, and 2nds turned in by the 4×100 and 4×200 sets.

Jordan Kalk is racking up C-I team points in the high jump, triple jump and hurdles this season.

The pole vaulters led the C-I field entrants when Mark Volker placed 1st by clearing 14-0; Anderson (13-0) and Forrest Tompkins (11-0) placed 3rd and 4th. Forrest Kalk (5-10) and J. Kalk (5-10) placed 2nd and 4th in the high jump. In the triple jump, it was J. Kalk placing 2nd (38-0), Head 3rd (37-0), Daniels 5th (36-10) and F. Kalk 6th (36-0). Jason Codner (17-10) and Ryan Coop (17-04) placed 4th and 6th in the long jump. Adam Muehlhauser (2nd, 125-11) and Jeremy Ham (3rd, 120-04) threw well in the discus, and Clinton Triechel (40-01) was 4th in the shot.

• The Jacket girls vaulters also scored well at Waconia when Rocelle Anderson and Adelle Nelson both cleared 9-06 to place 1st and 2nd, with Michelle Ziebarth going 4th at 7-0. Hannah Mueller put up more big points with wins in the long jump (16-09) and 100 hurdles (15.5), a 2nd in the triple (33-02), and a 3rd in the 300 hurdles (52.1).

Emily Santiago-Holboy led the throwers by winning the shot (32-08) and placing 4th in the discus (86-07). Kylie Baas was 3rd in the high jump (4-06), Ruby Evans 4th in the shot (27-06), Carlynn Galeazzi 4th in the 400 (1:03) and Paige Muehlhauser 4th in the 800 (2:34).

C-I at True Team sections

The Jacket boys finished 5th and the girls were 8th at the May 10 Section 5AAA True Team meet at White Bear Lake. The Blaine boys and WBL girls advanced to the State True Team finals.
