Ruby Wicklund

Ruby Wicklund, 88, of Cambridge died May 5, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. 

Ruby Anna Wicklund was born Oct. 8, 1922 in Fredric, Wis. to Reuben and Ruth Wedin. She was raised in the Trade Lake, Wisconsin area. On Aug. 23, 1947 she married Roger Wicklund at the Stanchfield Baptist Church. She has made her home in the Cambridge area since that time. Ruby has been in the nursing home for the past five years. Ruby was an active member of Stanchfield Baptist Church over the years. She loved her church and her grandchildren. Ruby was a people person and enjoyed talking and visiting and she loved children and baby sat many years for several families.

Ruby is survived by her four children, Elizabeth Wicklund-Walz of Tucson, Ariz., Sandy (Bob) Overturf of Blaine, Linda (Louis) Carson of Mora, Jim (Terri) Wicklund of Cambridge; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Harriet (Chuck) Hulsether of Wisconsin, Carolyn (Tony) Wedin of Wisconsin; one brother, Walt (Carol) Wedin of Minnesota; one brother-in-law, Ron Erdman of Illinois; and by many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger in 1991; one grandson, Derek Carson; three sisters; and one brother.

Memorial services were held May 9, 2011 at Stanchfield Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Cope officiating. Janette Benzen and Pam Theline served as musicians. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel.

    I will miss you Ruby, I was able to tell you I loved you a few days before you went home. I’m really going to miss you Ruby Anna!!!! I’ll see you again when I go home.
