Going against Section 7AA partners at the rescheduled St. Francis Invite May 3, both Cambridge-Isanti track & field squads racked up several winning efforts across the events.
The Bluejacket boys totaled 120.5 points to defeat the host Saints (87) and North Branch 68.5. The C-I girls placed 3rd with 64 points behind Forest Lake (83) and St. Francis (71), with North Branch trailing (62).
In the field events for the Bluejacket boys, Jake Simmel won the shot (42-03) and Adam Meuhlhauser took 1st in the discus (135-10), with Jeremy Ham placing 2nd in the disc (133-01) and 3rd in the shot (38-03). Mark Volker cleared 13-06 to win the pole vault, and teammate Conner Anderson was 3rd (12-06).
Jordan Kalk (6-0) and Forrest Kalk (5-08) placed 1st and 2nd in the high jump. Kish Daniels in the triple jump (37-02) and Devin Mathews in the long jump (18-05) added 2nd places.
Darren Codner won the 3200 (11:12), and Patrick Jones was 3rd in the 800 (2:15). Matt Andres (17.2) and Casey Golla (18.0) were 1st and 2nd in the 110 hurdles, with those two flip-flopping those places in the 300 (Golla 42.2 and Andres 43.1).
• Hannah Mueller increased her jump distance while winning the long (16-11) and triple (34-05) at St. Francis. She also placed 1st in the 100 hurdles (16.6). Placing 2nd in more field events were Morgan Smith in the shot (34-02), Kylie Baas in the high jump (4-10) and Adelle Nelson in the pole vault (9-0).
Michelle Ziebarth ran to a 2nd in the 100 (14.0), and Paige Muehlhauser was 3rd in the 400 (1:03).
C-I at Hamline Elite Meet
The Bluejacket track & field squads had a couple representatives at the April 29 Hamline Elite Meet– a special by-invite gathering at the site of the State Track meet. Hannah Mueller placed 7th in the long jump by clearing 16-08.5.
The boys 4×800 relay of Sam Westerberg, Trevor Galligan, Billy Eifert and Aaron Kordiak turned in a 7th-place time of 8:11.8– just 10 seconds off event-winner Bemidji.
