Warrior Baseball out to 4-1 start

Cambridge Christian baseball upped its record to 4-1 on the season with an 8-6 victory over NorthLakes Academy at home April 21.

Alex Moses threw the first four innings, and Jake Bergman finished up over the final three innings for the save. Coach Jerry Moses acknowledged the solid defensive work of catcher Alex Lecceardone, second baseman Jack Swenson and centerfielder Peter Maring which aided in the victory.

“We’re getting pretty consistent pitching, and we’re swinging the bats well at the start,” said Coach Moses. “We just need to keep working to improve our overall team defense.”

On April 19, his Warriors defeated rival Christian Life 15-8, helped by a six-run bottom of the sixth. Anthony Lecceardone went six innings for the win, with Moses tossing the seventh.

In earlier action this spring, CCS received shutout pitching from Bergman (five innings) and Moses in a 3-0 blanking of Liberty Classical April 15. Anthony Lecceardone (five innings) and Moses (two innings) were supported by a good defensive effort in a 5-3 win over PACT April 13. The Warriors opened the season with a 13-3 loss to Woodcrest Academy.
