The Isanti County Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) coalition is teaming up with local governments, schools, and others to get the word out about seat belts. What is the word? We all need to buckle up, each and every time we’re in a vehicle. May 6 is a Seat Belt Awareness Day in Isanti County. Seat Belt proclamations by local governments will be made.
Did you know that traffic fatalities are the leading cause of deaths for persons 2 to 33 years-old and that 16 – 19 year- olds are more likely to die in a crash than the next two leading causes combined. Persons are more likely to be killed or sustain serious injury when not using a seat belt.
According to Minnesota Department of Public Safety data, seat belt usage needs to improve in Isanti County.
To encourage more seat belt use, the Cambridge schools and TZD have recently conducted a seat belt pledge drive. The community poster/slogan contest this year is also focused on seat belts.
On May 6 let’s all buckle up, and don’t drive distracted or impaired to help improve the safety of our roads. Thanks for joining in this day and every day.
