Carl was born Oct. 17, 1931 near the small village of Morup of Halland Province. He served in the Swedish Military and graduated from Agricultural College in Sweden. On April 13, 1956 Carl departed from Oslo aboard a Norwegian-American Ship and headed for Halifax, Nova Scotia. He spent some time working as a miner and a farm hand in Canada. Carl rounded out his American Dream by Marrying Sylvia Wallskog, the daughter of Swedish immigrants. Together, they worked the 200 acre dairy farm until they retired and moved southwest of Mora.
Carl was an active member of Siloa Lutheran Church. His many hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling and being out- doors. He was a wonderful step-father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Constancia; wife, Sylvia; sister, Kristin; and brothers, Karl Anders, Gunnar and twin brother Carl Erik.
Carl is survived by his son, Donald Erickson of Princeton; daughters, Connie Dunyan of Virginia and Karen (George) Carlson of Braham; grandchildren, Matthew Erickson, Wade (Sarah) Erickson, Derek Erickson, Durand Erickson, Dana Carlson, and Cory Carlson; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Tristan, and Isabelle Erickson; Swedish sister-in-law, Disa Bengtsson, and many Swedish nieces and nephews.
He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service was held Monday, April 25, at Siloa Lutheran Church. Rev. Delwayne Hahn officiated. Honorary Urnbearers were Matthew Erickson, Wade Erickson, Derek Erickson, Durand Erickson, Dana Carlson, Cory Carlson, Bryce Erickson, Tristan Erickson and Isabelle Erickson. Inurnment was at Siloa Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham.
