Matt Swanson was 2nd medalist with a 75 to the lead the Bluejacket boys to a runner-up 319 total at the Mississippi 8 meet held at Wild Marsh CC April 21. Ryan Lundeen (79), Jared Knutson (82) and Matt Mellum (83) contributed to the team effort.
Rogers won the meet with a 306, but Cambridge-Isanti held 2nd place all alone in the season standings after Thursday’s meet. The Bluejackets finally get in their first practice sessions of the season on an actual golf course this week in preparation for the April 29-30 Grand Slam Invite in Grand Rapids.
C-I Baseball 1, Monticello 0
Cole Bakke came through with another pitching gem, throwing hard for 7 innings in the Bluejackets’ win at Monticello April 21. With the tying run at third with one out, Bakke struck out consecutive Magic batters to escape with the victory.
The game was tied 0-0 through six innings when C-I’s Nick Johnson reached on a strike-three passed ball. Jordan Locken came in to pinch-run, and he came home on Reed Burns’ single for the lone run.
The win moved the Bluejackets into a tie atop the Mississippi 8 since St. Michael-Albertville knocked off leader Big Lake 4-1.

The Bluejackets stayed within a game of Buffalo in the softball conference race on hurler Bailey Bakken’s second straight shut out.

The Bluejackets raised their Mississippi 8 record to 2-0 and overall record to 4-0 with the victory at Buffalo April 21. It was the second straight year C-I defeated the Bison in an M-8 dual meet.
