Jacket boys 3rd at 15-team Monticello Invite

Matt Swanson was 4th at 75, and Jordan Knutson placed 8th at 77 to lead the Cambridge-Isanti boys golf team to a 3rd-place finish at the April 13 Monticello Invite. The Jackets turned in a solid 318– just 6 strokes back of runner-up and defending conference champ Rogers.

Jared Knutson (82), Ryan Lundeen (84), Matt Mellum (89) and Jonah Poppen (93) also golfed for the Jackets. More Mississippi 8 teams competing were Buffalo (324), Becker (327), Monticello (336), St. Michael-Albertville (340), Princeton (365) and Big Lake (390).

“A 318 is a much improved score from the first match of the year.  Matt and Jordan came back from Monday meet with excellent scores. Jordan improved by 11 strokes and Matt improved by 9 shots,” noted C-I Coach Mike Hennen.

The boys head to the 27-hole Bunker Hills Invite on April 14. ” The same format of 27 holes will be used for the Section 7AAA meet this year, so this is a great tournament for practice for sections,” added Coach Hennen.
