CIHS grad is Head Start ‘Teacher of the Year’

Monica (Reynolds) Torgerson, Anoka/Washington County Head Start’s teacher at the Life Long Learning Center, was nominated by her agency to the Minnesota Head Start Association Awards and Scholarships committee for the Teacher of the Year Award.  Her application was selected as the winner for the state of Minnesota.

Torgerson, a 1992 graduate of Cambridge-Isanti High School, had her application then forwarded on to the Region V Head Start Association, which consists of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio for consideration. The Region V Head Start Association announced Torgerson as the 2011 Teacher of the Year winner.  Her application has been forwarded to the National Head Start Association Awards and Scholarships committee. Head Start is part of the Anoka County Community Action Program, and Torgerson has been an employee there for the past nine years. She is the daughter of Glenda Reynolds of Isanti, and the late Emanuel Reynolds.
