Annette Strand Scherer Robbins, 96 of Edina, died April 9, 2011.
Annette graduated from West High School in 1932, received a Bachelor’s degree from Hamline University and a Master’s degree from University of Minnesota. She had a long and proud career as a social worker with the Minneapolis public schools. Annette was active with her church, AAUW, the Minneapolis Hiking Club, traveling, dancing and reading. She also had a life-long love of golf and tennis. Later years found her enjoying summertime at the cabin at Balsam Lake, Wis. with her family, friends and Tiger, her cat. Annette and Robbie also enjoyed the winters in Naples, Fla.
She is survived by her husband, Orem “Robbie” Robbins; sons, Scott of Minnetonka, Mark (Nancy) of Cambridge, Greg of Sequim, Wash.; two grandsons, Scott Christian Scherer (Jennifer) of Carbondale, Colo., Dr. James Scherer (Buffy) of Rogers, Alaska; four great-grandchildren, Macy, Colton, Noah, Aubrey. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Scherer; step-brother, Fobian Strand.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14 at 11 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3801 Wooddale Ave S, St. Louis Park. Interment in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Ave S., St. Louis Park (Wooddale at Excelsior Blvd) and also at 10 a.m. at the church on Thursday.
