At Cambridge Primary School, they believe if students understand their basic needs and begin to learn how to get their needs met in a responsible way they will be good learners, good citizens and grow up to be productive members of society. The 5 Basic Needs are Survival, Fun, Freedom, Love/Belonging and Power.
On Thursday, April 14, from 6 to 7:45 p.m., Cambridge Primary School is showing off their POWER! Power is the most misunderstood of the basic needs because we tend to think of it exclusively as power over other people. In reality, the need for power refers to personal power, a sense of competence, and a sense of doing things well. It includes recognition that what you do and who you are is important. You can remind yourself daily that you are competent, that you have certain specific talents, and that you are important.
Often at school students are recognized for their ‘school power’ – how well they do at reading or math but on Power Night students are invited to show off the many other things they are good at. Come enjoy collections, drawing, scrapbooks, creative writing, dance recitals, photography, science projects, sculpture, technology, martial arts performances, guitar and piano recitals, vocal performance and more.
At 7 p.m. the second graders will be showing off their “Musical Power” by performing a concert in the CPS gym.
