Braham boys open playoffs with win

Braham, seeded No. 2 in the Section 7AA South, opened the boys basketball playoffs with a 64-32 win over No. 7 Hinckley-Finlayson March 9. The victory sends the Bombers to the Saturday, March 12 (6 p.m.) quarterfinals against No. 3 seed Esko at UMD.

The Eskomos defeated Pine City 77-52 March 9. Also winning in that half of the 7AA brackets were North No. 1 Virginia (67-39 over Eveleth-Gilbert) and North No. 4 Duluth Marshall (69-59 over Greenway).

March 12 quarterfinal games in the other half of the brackets are South No. 1 Moose Lake-Willow River vs. No. 5 Mora, and North No. 2 International Falls vs. No. 3 Deer River.

Winners from Saturday advance to the 7AA semifinals held Thursday, March 17 back at UMD.
