Boys Hoops Playoffs: Bombers No. 2 seed, Bluejackets No. 7

Braham was seeded in the No. 2 South slot for this week’s Section 7AA boys basketball tournament. The Bombers (23-3) will open at home against No. 7 Hinckley-Finlayson (8-14) 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9.

The Bombers defeated the Great River-partner Jaguars twice this season including 108-44 back on Feb. 8. Braham closed the regular season with a 50-46 loss to Mora March 4.

The winner of the March 9 game takes on the winner of Esko and Pine City in the 7AA quarterfinals– Saturday, March 12 (6 p.m.) at UMD. The semifinals will be back at UMD on Thursday, March 17 (6/7:45 p.m.).

Moose Lake-Willow River (24-2) got the No. 1 seed for the 7AA South. In the North Subsection, Virginia (22-4) is the No. 1 seed and in Braham’s half of the brackets.

Cambridge-Isanti travels to Blaine

The Bluejacket boys (9-17) closed the regular season with a 44-40 win over visiting Big Lake March 4. Cambridge-Isanti was then seeded No. 7 in Section 7AAAA and will open at No. 2 Blaine (17-9) in the 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10 quarterfinals.

Duluth East (19-6) is the top seed in 7AAAA, and Forest Lake (16-10) is the No. 3 seed in the Bluejackets’ half of the brackets. The 7AAAA semifinals will be hosted at Elk River Tuesday, March 15 (6/8 p.m.)

Against the Hornets, Ted Lutterman hit 4-of-9 shots from the arc to lead C-I with 20 points. Tom Selz added 6 points, with 5 points each from Mike Henderscheid (11 rebounds) and Cory Prybilla.
