Braham will be gunning for a third straight Section 7AA girls basketball championship when the playoffs kick in this week.
The Bombers (24-2) were awarded the No. 1 seed in the 7AA South where they open Wednesday, March 2 against No. 8 Hinckley-Finlayson. The Bombers tore up the Jaguars 112-18 in the regular-season closer Feb. 24 to complete a perfect run through the Great River Conference.
The Braham squad will then begin its familiar trek to the University of Minnesota-Duluth for the section quarterfinals on Saturday, March 5. There they could face either No. 4 Rush City or No. 5 Aitkin at 2:45 p.m. The Tigers (17-5) would particularly love another shot at the Bombers after they were blown out in the BHS gym just back on Feb. 8.
The 7AA semifinals will be back at UMD on Tuesday, March 8, with Braham’s half of the brackets playing at 6 p.m. International Falls (13-12) and Two Harbors (11-13) are the top 7AA North seeds in that half. In the other half, Deer River is the No. 1 North Seed who has to get past South No. 2 Esko or South No. 3 Mora to reach the March 10 finals.
