Thursday Night Sports: Bomber girls finish 16-0 in GRC
Cambridge-Isanti head to the playoffs on an upbeat note after rallying to defeat Coon Rapids 64-61 on "Seniors Night" Feb. 24 at CIHS. Whitney Olson scored 15 of her game-high 23 points in the second half for the Bluejackets.
"I’m very proud how the kids stepped up the final eight minutes to take control of the game," commented Jacket Coach Jody Ledahl. "We challenged them to find a higher level, and they did just that. We continued to struggle shooting, but we got out on the break, got some easy baskets and hit the offensive boards to get some additional shots and trips to the line. Natalie Larson and Paige Muehlhauser had key steals down the stretch."
Deandra Vavra also had a solid overall night with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Larson finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds, with Amanda Hanson contributing 8 points and 5 rebounds.
The Bluejackets, 18-8 and seeded No. 3 in Section 7AAAA, hosts No. 6 St. Francis Thursday, March 3 (7 p.m.) in the Section 7AAAA quarterfinals.
