Seeding set for wrestling sectionals

The Bluejackets, with a record of 19-4, are seeded second and open up against seventh-seeded St. Francis. A win would likely set up a match against third seed Coon Rapids, or sixth seed Anoka.

St. Michael Albertville earned the top seed with a 28-4 record. Forest Lake was seeded fourth; Andover, eighth and Blaine ninth.

Opening matches begin at 4 p.m.; followed by the semi finals at 6 p.m. and the finals at 8 p.m.

The Bluejackets closed the regular season with a convincing win on “Seniors Night” at CIHS on Feb. 10. Earning falls for Cambridge-Isanti were David Kent (112), Travis Holt (140), Cody Glines (160), Clayton Jennissen (171) and Derek Swanson. Picking up tech falls were Landon Chumley (125), Ty Torgerson (130) and Cody Skog (145).

The Rush City-Braham wrestlers wrapped up regular season action on Friday, Feb. 11 at the Great River Conference Finals hosted by Mille Lacs at Onamia.

Rush City-Braham finished fifth out of sixth teams. Aitkin finished first with a score of 262, followed by Mille Lacs, 243.5, Hinckley-Finlayson-Pine City-East Central, 165, Ogilvie, 154, Rush City-Braham, 64 and Cloquet-Esko-Barnum, 44.

Earning 4th place finishes for RC-BR were Francis Loerzel (112); Dylan Niemela (119); Hunter Liegland (135); Isaiah Johnson (152); and Logan Johnson (160).
