The East Central Minnesota Chorale, under the direction of Mark Potvin, will present their annual Scholarship Concert, at 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Richard Hardy Performing Arts Center, located in the Cambridge-Isanti High School
Featured will be the concert choirs from Mora High School and Cambridge-Isanti High School, along with Unum Vox, the select, high school honors choir, representing 11 area high schools, sponsored by the Chorale.
Each choir, including the Chorale will sing alone, and in a marvelous grand finale, they will sing together in the famous work by Carl Orff, Carmina Burana. Based on an eclectic collection of Medieval writings, this evocative and exciting work for choir will be accompanied by five percussionists and four hand piano. Over 150 singers will perform.
At this annual concert the Chorale will award $500 scholarships to two high school seniors who intend to sing in choir while in college. Students are nominated by their high school choir directors and screened by a committee of the Chorale who determines the two winners.
Tickets at $10 each, are on sale at Leader in Cambridge, as well as from any Chorale or Unum Vox member. People age 17 and under are admitted free. Tickets will also be on sale an hour before the concert at the door.
