Thursday Night Sports: Emily Vogelpohl posts top All-Around score against Bulldogs; Braham Girls B-Ball wins big at Aitkin; C-I Swim defeats host Princeton
Cambridge-Isanti reclaimed at least a share of the Mississippi 8 championship by winning a barn-burner at Becker Feb. 3 147.925-146.675. The Bluejackets are now 5-0 in conference meets with one more to go at home against Monticello Feb. 7.
Senior Emily Vogelpohl scored the highest All-Around total with 37.6 points against the Bulldogs with a very consistent night. She scored 9.45s on the Vault and Floor, adding a 9.4 on the Beam and 9.3 on the Bars.
Cherie Evenson was 2nd in AA scoring with 37.15 points, hitting a 9.4 on the Beam and 9.325 on the Vault. Anna Solbrack scored 36.975 AA points, highlighted by a 9.4 on the Beam and 9.35 on the Vault. Nadia Nassif added a 9.45 on the Vault for the Bluejackets.
Braham Girls Basketball 85, Aitkin 30
The Bombers improved to 13-0 in the Great River with another dominating win over the Gobblers to take the season series with their conference rivals. Braham can clinch the GRC title with a home win over Rush City Feb. 8.
C-I Boys Swim & Dive 93, Princeton 63
The Bluejackets cruised to a conference win at Princeton Feb. 3, raising their M-8 record to 3-1. Senior Jake Berry (200 IM and 100 Backstroke) was a double-winner for Cambridge-Isanti in individual events. Adding 1st places were Jason Codner (200 Freestyle), Grant McCormick (100 Butterfly), Darren Codner (500 Free), and Matt Taray (100 Breaststroke).
Zimmerman 84, C-I Boys Basketball 48
The Thunder paid back a 77-74 loss to the Bluejackets just back on Jan. 25 with a 36-point rout at home Feb. 3. Zimmerman had three players score in double-figures. Leading the Bluejackets were Ryan Rosenberg (12 points), Mike Henderscheid (9 points) and Ted Lutterman (9 points).
