Nineteen Braham Middle School students worked their memory during 2011 National Spelling Bee event Feb. 1

Braham competitors in the local version of the National Spelling Bee took their turn in the spotlight the evening of Feb. 1. Sixth-grader Eric Eskuri (right) was the Braham champ with his winning word “grotesqueness.” Fifth-grader Amelia Fiedler (left) placed 2nd with “biopsy.” Eric will go on to the Regional Spelling Bee at St. John’s University Feb. 23.
