Nelda L. Remus, 64, of Isanti died January 26, 2011 at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Nelda Lee (North) Remus was born July 22, 1946 in Canton, Ohio to Rev. Gerald and Leola North.
While growing up, her family lived in Magnolia, Ohio; Knoxville, Tenn.; Rockport, Ind., and Cicero, Ind. She graduated high school from Jackson Central in Arcadia, Ind. in 1964. Then she attended Midland College in Freemont, Neb. and the University of Minnesota, class of 1970. Nelda met William Remus Dec. 11, 1972. They went to church together for their first date and were then married April 21, 1973. She enjoyed sewing, reading, crocheting and scrapbooking. Being with her family was important to her, whether it was at reunions, spending time outdoors, holidays, special events, babysitting, or casual visits, she loved being together. The family lived for a time in the Crystal, Rockford, Long Lake, Princeton, and Zimmerman communities. She worked in city administration in both Greenfield, Minn. and Zimmerman, Minn. and most recently in the offices at Long Lake Lutheran Church of Isanti.
Nelda is survived by her husband, Will Remus of Isanti, Minn.; daughter Suzzanne (Remus) and Kent Carter of Monticello, Minn.; daughter Sonya (Remus) and Mark Lietha of Sioux Falls, S.D.; son Erik and Stephanie Remus of Lincoln, Neb.; son Gerad and Katrina Remus of Coon Rapids, Minn., and daughter Trisha (Remus) and Danny Walker of Rockton, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother Paul and Betsy North of Tipton, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews and other loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at Long Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. Matt Flom officiating. Special music was the Long Lake Lutheran Choir and Kristy Anderson served as organist. Pallbearers were George Ladd, Wayne Larson, David Tews and Tim Wilmes. Interment was in Long Lake Community Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.
