Basketball Updates: C-I Boys drop two M-8 games; Braham girls roll to two victories

C-I Boys drop two
Visiting Becker got its first M-8 win by getting past Cambridge-Isanti 66-62 Feb. 1. Ted Lutterman scored 20, Preston Bosacker 15 and Mike Henderscheid 10 for the Bluejackets.

On Jan. 28, Big Lake slipped past visiting C-I 56-53. Henderscheid led C-I with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Ryan Rosenberg scored 11, Lutterman added 9 points and 4 assists, and Cory Prybilla had 7 boards and 4 points.

Braham Girls win two
The Bombers maintained their hold on the top ranking in Class AA by cruising to two Great River victories.

On Jan. 28, Braham swept the season series with Pine City by marking a 91-23 road win.  Playing again Feb. 1, the Bombers kept Hinckley winless in the GRC with an 111-14 home win over the Jaguars.

The Bombers can clinch at least a share of their second straight GRC title with victories over Aitkin and Rush City this week.

C-I Girls tip Hornets
Whitney Olson scored Cambridge-Isanti’s final eight points, including hitting two final free throws, to lift the Bluejackets over the visiting Hornets 57-56 Jan. 28. Olson finished with 26 points, and Deandra Vavra added 16 points for C-I. Darah Olson contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds.

On Feb. 1, the Bluejackets won their fourth straight M-8 game by rallying on host Becker 58-46. The Bulldogs led 23-17 at the break. W. Olson pumped home 28 points, with Vavra scoring 10 and D. Olson 9.
