Thursday Night Sports: C-I Gymnasts hit 148 points again against St. Francis; Jacket Wrestlers defeat Hornets; C-I Boys Hockey falls to Monticello-Annandale

Braham jumped out to a 44-23 halftime lead and kept rolling Jan. 27 to hand the host Eagles their first loss on the Great River schedule. Tyler Vaughan posted the double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, adding 6 assists. Ben Thiry (14 points, 7 assists), Cameron Braund (12 points, 4 rebounds) and Drew Klemz (12 points, 5 rebounds) also shined in the win. The Bombers forced 18 EC turnovers and garnered 8 steals.

The Bluejackets reset their team record on the Beam (37.6) for the second meet in a row while downing Section 7AA partner St. Francis at home. Cheri Evenson took top honors in All-Around scoring, highlighted by a 9.575 on the Beam and 9.4 on the Floor.

Anna Solbrack scored 37.3 All-Around points with a 9.475 on the Floor and 9.525 on the Beam. Emily Vogelpohl’s 9.5 led C-I on the Bars, and Nadia Nassif posted a meet-high 9.375 on the Vault.

The team hosts its Bluejacket All-Around individual showcase this Saturday at CIHS (12 p.m. start.

Cambridge-Isanti Wrestling 51, Big Lake 17

The Bluejackets improved to 4-2 in Mississippi 8 duals with a road win Jan. 27.

The Bluejackets took 13 penalties which limited their usual comeback abilities, and the visiting Eagles took advantage to climb ahead of them in the Mississippi 8 standings. Monticello scored 4 power-play goals while building a 7-1 lead after two periods. Brennan Osen scored the Jackets’ lone goal, with Sam Renier getting an assist.
