Cambridge-native Alex Geving (left), a member of the U.S. Marines 9th Engineering Co., was joined by fellow Marine William Krebbs of Forest Lake on a Jan. 5 visit to Gracepointe Crossing Gables East. The two are currently on leave and assisting in recruiting duties out of the Forest Lake office. On Wednesday, Geving and Krebbs visited with folks during coffee-break time at Gables East, including Delores Onstad and Esther Swanson (pictured).

Krebbs is fresh out of Marines boot camp, while Geving recently completed his first tour in Afghanistan. His duties there included supporting several units with fuel service and road maintenance, including running fuel for the Afghan National Army. He said the weather there is similar to Minnesota’s: hot in the summer and sometimes bitterly cold in December. Geving will be returning to his home base on Okinawa where, he added, he is able to get in a lot of rounds of golf.Photo by Greg Hunt
