Damn the torpedoes

Dear Editor:

“Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!” Admiral David Farragut’s legendary quote as he invaded Mobile Bay during the Civil War seems to be the motto of “our” elected Democrat officials.

November 2 we voters delivered as many “torpedoes” as our system allowed telling both our federal and state elected officials that we were not interested in higher taxes, class warfare pitting one group of taxpayers against another or more government spending/debt. Yet our newly elected governor Mark Dayton is proposing to do exactly that by taxing “the rich.” Our Democrat representatives in Congress also voted in the recent lame duck session to do the same.

As with any analogy, this one breaks down. Adm. Farragut won the battle of Mobile Bay in the worthy cause of preserving the Union while the Democrats are losing in their attempt to harm the Union by pitting one group of taxpayers against another and generating an unimaginable debt to a sworn enemy, China.
