Team sets season-high score in dual win against Knights

Showing more flash while trying to nail down consistency, the Cambridge-Isanti gymnasts placed 2nd at Saturday’s MGJA Invitational in Faribault. The Bluejackets posted a 145.55 score to finish behind defending Class AA champ Northfield’s 146.85 among the 16 teams competing.

Park of Cottage Grove was a distant 3rd at 142.8, and Lakeville North was 4th at 138.7.
Bluejacket senior Anna Solbrack won the All-Around title with 37.15 points. She was 5th on the Floor at 9.5 and 4th on the Vault at 9.35.

Senior Nadia Nassif (left) took 1st place on the Vault with a sterling 9.425. Senior Emily Vogelpohl also shined when she scored a personal-best 9.65 on the Beam, good for 2nd place. Vogelpohl was 4th in the All-Around at 36.3, adding a 9.2 on the Floor. Senior Cheri Evenson scored 9-plus results on the Beam, Bars and Vault, finishing 6th in the AA with a 36.2 total.

At the Jan. 6 “Parents Night” home meet, the Bluejackets scored a season-high team total, led by Anna Solbrack’s 37.35 All-Around night. Nassif’s 9.45 on the Vault and Evenson’s 9.4 on the Beam were more C-I highlights.

The Jackets are now 2-0 in Mississippi 8 meets, heading to Princeton Jan. 13 and defending conference champ Big Lake Jan. 18. In between is Saturday’s Lakeville North Invite.
