Buffalo 42, Cambridge-Isanti 32
It’s going to be a gritty run in Mississippi 8 boys basketball in 2011, evidenced by the Bison’s home win over the Bluejackets Jan. 7. Buffalo played a tough man-to-man while Cambridge-Isanti countered with a blanketing zone, and outside shooting sparked both offenses in C-I’s M-8 opener.
Buffalo held a 20-13 lead at the break, but the Bluejackets climbed back to take a 28-26 lead with just over 6 minutes remaining when Ryan Rosenberg sunk four straight three-pointers and Ted Lutterman nailed another ‘3.’ The Bison eventually took a two-point lead, then two long possessions were ended with made shots from the arc to create an 8-point edge.
“I think the competition in the conference is as well balanced as it’s ever been. Buffalo is coming in as the four–time defending champs, but there are a number of teams right there in the top level of the conference,” said C-I Coach Mike McDonald.
Rosenberg finished with 15 points for the Jackets, and Lutterman scored 12.
C-I Boys 54, Princeton 52
The Jackets evened their M-8 boys basketball record at 1-1 with a road win Jan. 11, getting a winning three-pointer at the buzzer. Ted Lutterman poured in 26 points, and Tom Selz added 10 points for the Bluejackets.
