Cambridge-Isanti Wrestlers totaled 202.5 points to better Prior Lake (168.5), Elk River (165) and five other squads at their annual Bluejacket Invite on Saturday, Jan. 8. The Bluejackets had three champions at their weights: Cody Skog at 140 (left), Clayton Jennissen at 171, and Derek Swanson at 189.
Placing 2nd for the Bluejackets were Tanner Torgerson (119),TyTorgerson (130), Travis Holt (135) and Cody Glines (160).
On Friday night, Cambridge-Isanti improved to 8-1 with a 44-23 home win over St. Francis. Earning falls for the Bluejackets against the Saints were Nate Medin (112) and Ben Hartnett, with tech falls racked up by Travis Holt (135) and Cody Skog (140).
Bluejacket Girls Hockey 6, Superior W 4
Shelby Sylvester scored 2 goals and added an assist, and Jessie Morrisson passed for 3 assists when Cambridge-Isanti-Mora-Pine City (5-7-1) took a road win in Wisconsin. Alyssa Christenson and Kaity Ripp both added 1 goal & 1 assist for the Jackets.
Bluejacket Boys Hockey 10, Becker-Big Lake 2
Ten different players scored for Cambridge-Isanti in the Jan. 8 matinee game at Isanti. Josh Klingseisen and Cody Horbacz both had 1 goal & 2 assists for the Bluejackets (6-7-2) who even
ed their Mississippi 8 record at 1-1.
Braham Boys Basketball 102, Hinckley-Finlayson 34
The Bombers shot 65% from the field– including hitting 11-of-20 three-pointers– in a dominating home win over the Jaguars Jan. 7. Six players scored in double figures: Tyler Vaughan (25), Ben Thiry (22), Erik Vavra (13), Bret Cuda (12), Cameron Braund (10) and Drew Klemz (10).
Braham Girls Basketball 79, Rush City 53
The Bombers (11-1) raised their Great River record to a perfect 6-0 with a road victory over the rival Tigers Jan. 7.
Buffalo Boys Basketball 42, Cambridge-Isanti 32
Buffalo worked past visiting C-I in a low-scoring affair Jan. 7. Ryan Rosenberg led the Bluejackets with 15 points, and Ted Lutterman scored 12.
Bluejacket Gymnasts 2nd at Faribault Invite
Cambridge-Isanti scored 145.55 points to place behind Northfield (146.85) in the 16-team Faribault Invitational Jan. 8. Anna Solbrack won the All-Around with 37.15 points, scoring a 9.5 on the Floor and 9.35 on both the Beam and Vault. Cheri Evenson added a 5th-place 9.2 on the Bars.
CCS Hoops split Friday night double-header
Jake Bergman scored 20 and Anthony Lecceardone 12 when the Cambridge Christian Boys (4-6) knocked off host 4th Baptist 55-37 Jan. 7. In the opener, the Warrior Girls (7-3) fell to 4th Baptist 49-39. Ellie Werlein scored 16 and Kellie Pedersen 15 for CCS.
Bluejacket Boys Swim 3rd at Panther Invite
Cambridge-Isanti scored 415 points to place behind Elk River (497) and conference-partner Monticello (466) at Saturday’s 8-team Spring Lake Park Invite.
