Ogilvie gets GRC Wrestling win at Braham

Thursday Night Sports: RC-B Tiger earns three pins in 48-27 loss; C-I Boys Swim defeats Buffalo; Both Bluejacket Hockey teams drop games; C-I Wrestlers defeat Rogers; C-I Gymnasts hit 146-point mark while defeating St. Michael-Albertville

Ogilvie held off a Rush City-Braham rally to post a 48-27 Great River Wrestling win at Braham Jan. 6. The Lions led 18-0 after pins at the first three weights, but the Tigers pulled to within 27-21 after the 152 match. Earning falls for the Tigers were Dylan Neimela at 125 (left– photo by Greg Hunt), Kyle Thomsen at 140 and Isaiah Johnson at 152. 

Rush City-Braham is now 0-3 in GRC matches and 1-3 overall.

Cambridge-Isanti Boys Swim 105, Buffalo 81

The Bluejackets began the Mississippi 8 schedule with a commanding victory over the Bison in their home pool. C-I senior Jake Berry set a team record in the 100 Butterfly (54.88) that has stood since  set by Tim Johnson in 1977. His time also set a Mississippi 8 conference record for the event. Davis Zaske of Buffalo set a Mississippi 8 Conference record in the 100 Breaststroke.

Berry added a 1st place in the 200 IM (2:05.9). Also posting individual 1st places for the Bluejackets were David Voller (50 Freestyle and 500 Free) and Jason Codner (100 Free). Both the C-I 200 and 400 Freestyle relays also won their races.

Rogers 6, Cambridge-Isanti Boys Hockey 2

A penalty-filled game saw the Royals jump out to a 4-1 lead in the second period and keep rolling to send the Bluejackets to a loss in their first Mississippi 8 battle of the season.T. J. Pagel and Josh Klingseisen scored the two C-I goals. Rogers scored two power-play goals and outshot the Bluejackets 44-15.

Moose Lake 4, Cambridge-Isanti-Mora-Pine City Girls Hockey 3

The Rebels scored three goals in the second period and held through a scoreless third to defeat the host Bluejackets in a game made up from the Dec. 11 snowout. Taylor Bowker scored two goals, including a power-play effort in the second period. Alex Nelson added the other CIMPC goal. The Bluejackets outshot the Rebels 50-29.

Cambridge-Isanti Wrestling 45, Rogers 27

The Bluejackets improved to 3-1 in Mississippi 8 matches with a road win Jan. 6.

Cambridge-Isanti Gymnastics 146.9, St. Michael-Alb. 123.6

The Bluejackets scored a season-high team total, led by Anna Solbrack’s 37.35 All-Around night in the Jan. 6 home win over the Knights. Nadia Nassif’s 9.45 on the Vault and Cheri Evenson’s 9.4 on the Beam were more C-I highlights.
