C-I Swim & Dive takes home meet against Coon Rapids


Coming back after over a two-week break from competition, Cambridge-Isanti notched a 96-81 win over visiting Coon Rapids Jan. 4 at home, swimming the last three events in exhibition.

The Bluejackets posted 1st-place times in the first four swim events to jump out against the Cardinals. Jake Berry, Nick Solberg, Jason Codner and David Voller took the 200 Medley Relay with a 1:47.3 time. Grant McCormick won the 200 Freestyle (2.02.3), and Calvin Cicha cruised to a win in the 200 IM (2:16.8). Dylan Maas kept the streak going with a 25.3 sprint in the 50 Freestyle.

McCormick later added a win in the 100 Butterfly (1:01.7), and Benj Nault-Maurer took 1st in the 100 Free (53.8). More top swim event times by the Bluejackets were turned in by Voller (5:30.9 in the 500 Free), Nault-Maurer (1:02.9 in the Backstroke), and Solberg (1:09.0 in the Breaststroke). Cicha, Landon Acre-Kendall, Codner and Berry also took 1st in the 200 Free Relay (1:34.1).

• The Jackets open the conference season at home vs. Buffalo Jan. 6, then head to the Spring Lake Park Invite on Saturday.
