MaryJane “MJ” Hansen

MaryJane “MJ” Hansen, 72, of Braham, passed away on Tuesday, December
28, 2010 at her home. MaryJane, daughter of Adry and Florence (Snow)
McConnell, was born on Dec. 27, 1938 in Fargo, N.D. As a child she moved
to Minnesota and attended Roosevelt High School. She then moved to
Washington, where she worked as a Dump Truck Driver. She remained on the
west coast for about years and then returned to Minnesota.

MaryJane was united in marriage to Clifford Hansen on Dec. 31, 1975. Together they have remained in the same house in Braham to this day.

During her life MaryJane was a good cook and for many years she worked at a variety of different places as a cook. Cliff put in a large garden every year and they would can and freeze things for the winter.  Sewing and crocheting were hobbies she enjoyed and MaryJane was always willing to help other with mending projects. No job too big or too small.
MaryJane was always very excited about a family get together when she would get to play one of her favorite games, Hand & Foote even when it took hours to play.  For many years she did a lot of volunteering at the Braham Moose Lodge, and earlier in her life at the Fridley Moose Lodge. MaryJane’s father had a close connection to the Moose Lodge, which he passed on to MaryJane. She and Cliff enjoyed a good game of horseshoes there during the summer.
When MaryJane was semi-retired, she and Cliff had a camper on Goose Lake. Oh, how she loved the smell of the lake, and the call of the loons. They spend many restful summers there, until her health started to decline and she could no longer go. MaryJane will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents.

MaryJane is survived by her husband Cliff Hansen, children Charlotte (Steve) Brown of Grasston, John Engholm of Minneapolis, Diana Hansen (Bill Rottschaefer) of St. Paul, Darlene (Jim) Cornell of Braham, and Darrel (Dianna) Hansen of Cambridge, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, siblings Adry Jr. (Joyce) McConnell of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Joanne Hughes of Broken Arrow, Okla.; Judy Anderson of Braham; Richard (Susan) McConnell of Las Vegas; and Janice (Dale) Nick of Princeton, also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Service was held on Jan. 3 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham with Pastor Mike Flynn presiding. Music was provided by Marie Grundberg. Honorary Urn Bears were MaryJane’s grandchildren Adam, Danny, Jessica, Jody, Andrew, Jennifer and Mike.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham.
