CareerBiz helps with all your resume, marketing needsPosted Online: 11/5/02 It's a "one stop shop for advancement in your career." Kathie and Wayne Madsen, recently moved CareerBiz from S. Ashland St., to 244 S. Main St. in Cambridge. CareerBiz can help people with several aspects of their professional career, offering help with resumes, cover letters, portfolios and computer training. She also helps small businesses with sales and marketing support. "Resume writing is a big part of what I do," Kathie said. "I will take over an hour if needed, to get all the information I need." Kathie has scheduled an open house for Saturday, Nov. 16, and she invites residents to stop in and see what her business has to offer. Due to more space with her new location, Kathie has added a waiting area, a computer workstation, a side door people may enter for confidential reasons and an area to buy business supplies such as resume paper, self help books, briefcases, day planners, portfolios, envelopes and certificate frames. "This is exactly what I wanted in a business," Kathie said. "My plan is to have other locations in the future." Kathie has been writing resumes and has been involved in sales and marketing for 13 years. She began assisting clients through a home business, Advance Communications, before opening CareerBiz. "I have an excellent satisfaction rate and get great results from my resumes," Kathie said. "My customers sit with me and go over their resume, until it meets their satisfaction." One-on-one attention is something customers can expect from Kathie. "My customers work with me; I'm concerned about them getting the job," Kathie said. "I take the time to do my work completely, until they're satisfied." Kathie said she services anyone up to an hour away. If a customer moves out of state, Kathie will continue to help that customer with professional services. "I'm always just a phone call away," Kathie said. "I can always fax, e-mail, or mail a resume from here." Having a business like CareerBiz, is something Kathie felt the area really needs. "I've seen a need for this; there really is a demand for this in the area," Kathie said. "I have a heart for this and was kind of led into this direction. This was something that was meant for me to do." Currently CareerBiz has one computer workstation, but Kathie's hoping to add a few more in the future as needed. During computer training, Kathie shows customers how to use a computer and explains how different functions work. She also does some accounting, publishing and internet training as well. Kathie is hoping to expand more into the community and work with non-profit agencies like social services and New Pathways. Having obtained a business management and marketing degree, Kathie has a wide variety of cliental, ranging from receptionists to world-wide corporate executives. CareerBiz is open Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment. For appointments call (763) 689-9000. ©Isanti County News |
