Local car dealers are integral part of driving programPosted Online: 11/5/02 Thousands of students at Cambridge-Isanti High School have had the opportunity to learn their driving skills because of the generosity of automobile dealers making new cars available for students to learn how to drive. John Hirsch (in photo above) has been providing these cars since his dealership moved to Cambridge. Bill Smrekar, retired Driver Education Coordinator for the district, has worked with several local dealers in the community and would like to give recognition to some of the past dealers as well. He goes back to when Fredlund Bros., Jack Roach Ford, Gillespie Auto, Guetschoff, Iten Chevrolet and Greenberg Motors all participated in the driver education program at one time or another during Smrekar's 33 years as a driver education instructor. ©Isanti County News |
