Alvina Van Antwerp in concert at Spring Lake Lutheran Church Nov. 10

On Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. Alvina Van Antwerp of Cambridge will give a sacred musical concert at Spring Lake Lutheran Church.

The concert, comprised of mostly old gospel songs and hymns, with a few contemporary, will be played on the marimba, with sleigh bells and a saxophone.

She will be assisted by a women's trio called, "The Singing Hearts" made up of Bernice Anderson, Betty Sundberg, Edith Johnson and Nancy Peabody.

Alvina Van Antwerp was born and raised in Marion, S.D. Her musical and singing career began at a very early age. The tunes she would hear in her country church she would try to play on an old pump organ.

All the instruments she plays, she was inspired by someone else who encouraged her.

After finishing high school she graduated from the Moody Bible Institute and traveled in evangelistic work in the United States and Canada.

She married Rev. William Van Antwerp and together they pastored churches for 40 years, serving in Pelican Rapids, MN, Lake Norden, S.D., Emerson, Iowa, Waconia, MN. and Richmond, CA.

Everyone is welcome to attend the concert. The church is located just off Hwy. 95 between Cambridge and North Branch.
