Cambridge announces snow plowing policyPosted Online: 11/13/02 The Cambridge Public works Department will plow city streets when snow levels reach three inches or more. For snowfalls less than three inches, Public works will sand intersections and bridges as needed. When plowing between the hours of 7:30 am and 1 am, streets will be plowed a single pass each direction and sanding as needed. When plowing between the hours of 1 am and 7:30 am, streets will be plowed full width as this is when parking restrictions are enforced. Main Street plowing will be between the hours of 1 am and 7:30 am, from the intersections of 3rd Avenue and Main Street South to 2nd Avenue and Main Street North. The snow will be plowed to the center of Main Street keeping intersections and crosswalks open to traffic and pedestrians. This snow will be removed within 48 hours or as quickly as possible due to continuing snowfall. The Cambridge City Council has determined that this method of plowing and snow removal will be done on a trial basis and will be up for review at a later date. When downtown streets are plowed between the hours of 1 am and 7:30 am, Public Works will clear snow from the business district sidewalks. This is for a snowfall of three inches or more. Businesses are responsible for ice control. Downtown businesses will be responsible for the clearing of snow less than three inches and ice control. Snow from sidewalks can be shoveled to the curb. Public Works will remove snow from the bump outs. Businesses are responsible for the clearing and removal of snow on private property. No business shall plow snow from private property onto city right of way or onto other private property. ©Isanti County News |
