Thought For Today - Staggering in your faith?Posted Online: 11/13/02 By Rev. John Kramer The challenge I have for you concerns faith. I want you to think of it and the possibilities it provides. "By faith" is the theme of Hebrews 11. Here are "one-liners," that is an idea in a nut-shell. They help us define faith. The time to trust and exhibit faith is when all else fails. Faith can change any situation. It is good to see things as they are; it is better to see things as they could be; and it is best to exercise faith to have them as God can make them be. Faith never knows where it is being led, but it knows the God who is leading. They took God at His Word - That is faith! Faith grasps, love serves, and hope sings. Where would faith be without a trial to test it, or patience with nothing to bear, or experience without tribulation to develop it? Faith honors God, and God honors faith. We must never overlook the fact that faith on our part helps God to carry out His plans. Faith is acting on God's truths and promises. My help has been my faith, my family, my friends, and my God. We are taught the way of simple faith as we are driven back to the Word of God and prayer. Pray for a faith that will not shrink when it is washed in the waters of affliction. Faith is receiving, or still better, a taking God's proffered gifts. God honors faith "obstinate faith" that sees God's promises, and it looks to them alone. Nineteen times 'by faith...' starts a verse, tells the person involved, and goes on about what God did in that person's heart as a result. Remarkable, we say. No, not any more remarkable than it will be when you and I walk "by faith." You and I need to claim "by faith" what God has in store for us today. Then we will find that faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Don't stagger - be strong! ©Isanti County News |
