Bluejacket Volleyball earns NSC Academic
championship

The Cambridge-Isanti volleyball team, coached by Jill Matson, Chris Hedberg, Amy Vavra and Kathy Johnson, won the North Suburban Academic Championship with an average class rank of 78.66-percent.

This is their second academic championship in the past two years. A big congratulations goes out to the team and coaching staff on this outstanding accomplishment.

More fall sports notes

-- Alexandria, the Section 8AAAAA champions, kept its season alive in the State tournament after defeating Cretin-Derham Hall 28-19 at home on Nov. 8. It was the second straight year the Cardinals (11-1) defeated the Raiders in the Class 5A quarterfinals.

-- Breck, the team to defeat Braham in the Section 4AA title game, lost to Kingsland 32-31 in overtime in their Class 2A quarterfinal game Nov. 8. Breck (10-2) had the ball first in o.t. and scored on a 10-yard pass to Brandon Robinson, with Robinson adding the extra-point kick for a 7-point lead. Kingsland (9-3) scored on Chad Strike's 2-yard TD run, and Strike added the game-winning two-pointer.
